Pleasure tour turns tragic: 2 youth drown in Malpe beach

Udupi, Dec 16, 2013: A pleasure tour to Malpe by a group of 15 youngsters from Bangalore, turned tragic on December 16, Monday when two of the youth drowned. Another young man who too was drowning  was rescued by locals.

The deceased are Roopesh (20) and Gowtham (21) residents of Viveknagar in Bangalore. It is learnt, a group of 15 friends had  hired a Tempo Traveller vehicle from Bangalore for a tour  and had arrived at Malpe beach on Monday morning.


According to sources, a mighty wave washed away  Roopesh and Gowtham who were enjoying  a swim with their friends. The condition of another youth named Dilip  who was rescued by locals, is said to be critical. He is admitted to Udupi Government Hospital.

Malpe police have registered a case.
