Kadaba, May 21, 2013: A road accident involving a bike and a tipper at Mayilga near Alankar on the Uppinangady –Kadaba State Highway on May 20, Monday claimed the life of the pillion rider leaving his brother who was riding the bike with serious injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Diwaker (30), son of late Krishnappa Poojari of Kepulu in Alankar. His brother Dinesh has been admitted to a private hospital in Uppinangady in a critical state.
The mishap took place when Dinesh and Diwaker were on way to a function. A speeding tipper collided head on with the bike while negotiating a curve at Mayilga, throwing the pillion rider on to the road. He died on the spot.
Traffic on the route was disrupted for some time owing to the accident. The deceased was a machine operator in a quarry at Kasargod and had arrived hometown just a few days ago. He is survived by his wife and a two year old son.
Kadaba police have registered a case.
On May 19, Sunday, a person had died in a bike mishap in the same area, taking the death toll in the re-asphalted state highway to 15 in the past three years.
