Udupi, May 24, 2014: Jayaprakash Hegde, the defeated Congress candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency has regretted that the people of his constituency had failed to recognise the various developmental initiative made by him during his short tenure as MP.
Speaking to reporters here on May 23, Friday, Hegde who lost to Shobha Karandlaje of the BJP, said the people voted for Narendra Modi by sidelining the developmental aspects and were carried away by the glorification of Narendra Modi. He also claimed that his fight in the elections had been against Modi and not Shobha.
He said his failure did not mean the end of his political career and that he will continue his services to the people of his constituency despite his failure in the elections.
Hegde was also thankful to the party workers who campaigned for him during the elections.
