Mangalore, June 2, 2014: A lorry laden with onions plunged off the Kulur bridge and fell into the Netravathi river on  June 1, Sunday. However, the driver and cleaner of the lorry had a miraculous escape despite the vehicle getting badly mangled.

It is said the lorry which was over speeding tried to overtake a car  near the Kulur bridge and in the process   rolled off the bridge. The lorry was proceeding towards the city from Pune. The onions in the lorry were scattered all over following the mishap. Later the onions were picked and transported in another lorry. The loss has been estimated at Rs 3.5 lakhs.
