Mangalore, Apr 12, 2014: If Congress candidate from DK constituency Janardhana Poojary is beaming with pride and is stating that he was right as far as Modi’s marital status is concerned, the BJP has hit back at him stating that he (Poojary) has not mentioned his wife’s name in the affidavit filed with the Election Officer along with his nomination papers.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP Election Office on April 12, Saturday, Sulochana GK Bhat, State Vice President of the Mahila Morcha alleged that Poojary has even left blank the column of dependents. He has no right to question Modi’s marital status when he himself has erred. Sulochana Bhat said the copy of Poojary’s affidavit which can be seen on Karnataka Election Commission website reveals that the column on income of his wife and dependents are left blank.
She described as vote bank politics, the assurance given by Poojary on reservation for Brahmins. She said the BJP wants to know why Poojary did not strive in this regard when he was the MP and Union Minister earlier.
Sharply reacting to Congress questions on Modi’s wife, she said the BJP too can ask as to who killed Sunanda Pushkar. She said the BJP election manifesto lays emphasis on women’s education and reservation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has clarified that the details furnished by Janardhana Poojary in his affidavit were in order.
