Mangalore, June 19, 2013: “ We will put an end to moral policing,” these were the firm words of State Home Minister KJ George during his visit to Bishop House in Mangalore on June 19, Wednesday.
The Home Minister who sought the blessings of the Bishop Rev Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, later interacted with several members of the community present at the House. Stating that none had the right to take law into their hands, the Minister directed the police department to deal with moral policemen with an iron hand.
On the infamous church attacks of 2008, the Minister while pointing out that the interim report was in favour of the victims, while the final report failed to ensure justice, assured to discuss the issue at the ministry level and do the needful.
The Home Minister also referred to the controversy that cropped up over the statement of CM Siddaramaiah that he was given the home portfolio and made it clear that he was not a home minister for any community but for the entire state.
On the flash floods in Uttarakhand where several people from the state including former minister Shobha Karandlaje is trapped, KJ George said the government is in constant touch with the Uttarakhand authorities and assured that the stranded Kannadigas will be safe.
The Home Minister was honoured on the occasion by Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu.
MLA J R Lobo, senior Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal, Corporator Naveen D’Souza and others were present on the occasion.
