The woman named Malathi Poojarti who worked as an Anganavadi assistant  lived in the house with her kid at Moodukonaje Acharibettu in the  village. She had  constructed the temporary house of cement sheets with the help of Rs 15000 which she had availed from Dharmasthala Rural Development Project.

Later,   the Shirthady Panchayat had even heeded to her application and issued a door number 6-66A in March last year and Malathi had even paid the house tax for 2012-13 and 2013-14.

But, she was directed to vacate the house by revenue officials on March 16, Sunday, Though Malathi had approached the tahsildar the next day  requesting him not to evict her, it went unheeded  and the revenue and police personnel  virtually dragged her out of the house though she pleaded them to let her stay by holding her child and the stove in hand.

All her household items were thrown  out in the inhuman act  which was led by Revenue inspector Somashekar, Moodukonaje Padukonaje village accountant Usha, Puthige village accountant Kishore and Marpadi village accountant Shanker.

Earlier police had even blocked the road to Acharibettu  creating a sense of fear in the area. Moreover over 50 police personnel led by Circle Inspector Ananthapadmanabha and SI Ramesh Kumar were also at the spot.

The forceful eviction of the poor woman has invited the ire of the locals. Even BJP leader Umanath Kotian  visited the hospital and enquired about the health of Malathi. He strongly condemned the eviction and urged for action against the guilty. Meanwhile, local residents have  provided temporary shelter to the woman until she finds a house. It is learnt Malathi was separated from her husband who works in a hotel in Mangalore.
