Mulki, April 30, 2014 : Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has accused the three ministers from the district including Mulki-Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain of cheating the people by keeping them in the dark about the proposed Niddodi ultra mega thermal power project. He also charged the ministers of indirectly supporting the project.
Speaking to reporters at Yuga Purusha hall at Kinnigoli on April 29, Tuesday, he said the Siddaramaiah Government in the state was resorting to goonda politics to implement the project without studying the carrying capacity of the district.
He urged the ministers to take a delegation of the local elected representatives to the chief minister to apprise him of the dangers of the project. If that is not possible then let the ministers resign and join us in our fight against the project, he challenged.
The revelation that the Chief Minister has written a letter to Union Energy Minister assuring to make arrangements for the Niddodi project, reveals the double standards pursued by the government, he said.
He also informed that a Tulunadu Ulisi Horata Samithi will be formed to fight against any project which is against the interests of the people.
Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Eshwara Kateel, Adarsha Shetty Ekkar and others were present.
