Mangalore, Jun 19, 2013: State Home Minister KJ George said that the newly elected legislators from the Congress must strive hard to bring changes in the state as desired by the voters.
Speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on June 19, Wednesday, he said as people have cast their vote in favour of the Congress seeking a change, the new government has the responsibility of ensuring a fair, transparent and unbiased governance within the legal framework.
Stating that the biggest problem facing the district was that of communal disturbances and moral policing, the minister said the government has given clear instructions to the police department to tackle the menace of moral policing lest they will be held responsible for the same.
KJ George also informed that on June 21, elected representatives will hold a state level meeting to discuss the menace of drug mafia, illegal activities in pubs and live bands and also the fake passport menace. The meeting will also discuss steps that need to be taken to curb the same, he said.
A memorandum was submitted to the minister demanding handing over of the Panjimogaru double murder case to a special police team comprising Panambur ACP and Mangalore CCB police.
Women’s Congress President Mamatha Gatty also handed over a memorandum seeking thorough investigation into the ASI Srikala sexual harassment case.
Congress leaders MLA J R Lobo, Ibrahim Kodijal, Ivan D’Souza, Mithun Rai and other were presented.
