Mangalore, May 13, 2014: Mahabala Maarla, Mayor of Mangalore who has taken serious cognizance of the rise in the spread of Malaria cases in the city, has warned that legal action would follow against those laboratories which fail to report Malaria cases to the City Corporation.
Participating in a Meet the Press Programme at the Press Club on May 13, Tuesday under the aegis of the DK District Working Journalists’ Union, the Mayor also informed about the plans to upgrade the facilities at Mangalore One Centres. He further added that measures would be taken to computerise the tax payment proecedure.
Promising early steps to construct footpaths wherever necessary, the Mayor also said the PVS, Mallikatta and Kankanady Circles would be developed scientifically.
The Mayor also informed that under a new scheme all companies having a profit of above Rs 5 crores will have to earmark a portion of their profit for developmental initiatives under their Corporate Social Responsibility. Builders raising constructions of 20,000 square feet and above will also have to use 2 per cent of their profit towards CSR, he added.
