Mangaluru, Aug 10, 2016: Hundreds of people gathered in front of a commercial complex at Hampankatta on the evening of August 9, Tuesday after a youth who climbed atop the complex roof threatened to jump off and end his life.
The youth is believed to be a drug addict as he was shouting and saying in Hindi that he needed cigarettes and Rs 10 lakhs cash. Though people who gathered around tried to convince him to get down, it was a futile exercise. Finally, the fire service personnel and Pandeshwar police were informed and Shekhar of Pandeshwar station managed to approach the man. He was eventually tied up and brought down.
Police informed that the youth would be admitted to hospital and efforts would be made to know about his identify.
Though the Bronto Skylift F 32 RLX of the Pandeshwar Fire Service was brought to the spot, it could not be used due to the presence of hi-tension wires.
