Mangalore, May 20, 2014: According to reliable sources Amrit Paul, IPS., is appointed new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Western Range. The last incumbent was Pratap Reddy, IPS., who was transferred in March 2014. The ANF Commander Seemant Kumar Singh was given the additional charge of the IGP post, he had not assumed charge of the same. Mangalore city police commissioner R Hitendra, IPS., was to date holding charge of the office.
Amrit Paul,IPS., is an officer of 1995 batch and launched his Police service in Bhalki (Bidar) in 1998, and went on to serve as SP of Udupi - June 2000 to July 2003, SP of Bidar - July 2003 to November 2004, assistant IGP (crime) - November 2004 to August 2006, SP of Bellary till May 2008, and then as DIGP (internal security) in Bangalore from 2012. He now comes as IGP Western Range and based in Mangalore; the people of Mangalore have high expectations from this officer, who will have a vital role in Mangalore.
