Mangalore University’s 32nd annual convocation on Feb 24

Mangalore, Feb 22, 2014: “Mangalore University is organizing 32nd annual convocation on Monday, February 24 at 12.10 pm at Mangala auditorium in Mangalagangotri,” said Prof. T.C. Shivashankar Murthy, vice chancellor, Mangalore University.

Addressing the press meet in Mangalore on Saturday, February 22, Murthy said that H.R. Bharadhwaj, governor of Karnataka and chancellor of Mangalore University will preside over the function. R.V. Deshpande, higher education minister will participate and Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, president, ISRO will deliver convocation speech.

“Around 112 people will receive doctorate degree (art-20, science-68, commerce-8, & education-16), 36 people will get gold medals and 65 individuals will get cash prizes. Totally, 60 students will receive ranks (PG -42, degree-18, art-13, science and technology -29, commerce-10, law-1 educaiton-5, PG diploma-2) in the convocation ceremony,” he added.

No honorary doctorate this time:

“There is tendency to confer honorary doctorate to the achievers in the subjects like education, science, technology, literature, music, art and law. Around nine people applied for the degree. But we didn’t get any eligible candidate to offer honorary doctorate. So syndicate meeting of Mangalore University decided not to confer honorary doctorate,” said T.C. Shivashankar Murthy.

NAAC Visit:

He further said that NAAC team already visited Mangalore University for four days and inspected the systems over here. After three days, MU will come to know about the grade.

Prof. P.S. Yadapadittaya, pro-chancellor, Narayan, registrar (evaluation), Dr. G.P. Shivaram, HOD, mass commutation department, Satyanarayan Mallipatna, acting principal, Mangalore University College and others were present during the press meet.
