Mangalore, April 11, 2014 : The expenses towards the recent rally addressed by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore, has been included to the election account of DK Congress candidate B Janardhana Poojary.
The Election Expenditure Observer has estimated the cost of the rally as Rs 6,98,401 and the entire amount has been added to the election expenses of Poojary.
As per the rules, if the candidate is present on the dais during the rally of star campaigner of any party, or if his portrait was put up on the stage or if any one seeks votes in favour of the candidate, then the entire cost of the rally will be part of the election expenses of the candidate.
During the Rahul Gandhi rally held in Mangalore, the speakers had sought votes for Poojary and therefore as per rules the expenses have been added to Poojary’s account, informed Krishna Prasad, Election Expenditure Observer.
Speaking to reporters here he said the amount has also included the expenses towards the 10,000 chairs and the 13000 VIP chairs used on the occasion. He said explanation has been sought from the DC as to who will bear the expenses towards the security of Rahul during his visit to Mangalore.
