Mangalore : 4 unruly prisoners shifted to Gulbarga jail

Mangalore, Jaune 12, 2014 : As many as four under trials  who were reportedly responsible for the recent assault on cops in the district prison, were on June 11, Wednesday shifted to Gulbarga jail.

Those shifted are  Samshuddin and Shameer, both accused in the Derlakatte kidnap and forced sex case, Safwan, an accused in a theft case and another prisoner named Sahir.

It has been reliably learnt that the foursome who were strongly against shifting  Mohammad Faizal and Talhat Koya Tangal on June 8, Sunday had instigated other inmates to assault the police personnel. Police say the decision to shift the two were taken following complaints that they were harassing other prisoners.

In the meantime, a police team comprising senior officials visited the prison on June 11 for an inspection when the team found mobile phones and ganja packets inside. It is said the police team was in the prison over four hours. The team included DCPs KY Jagadish, Vishnuvardhan,  ACPs Pavan Nejjur and Tilakchandra.

In another development, nearly 15 staff have been posted at the District Prison from other jails by the Director General of Prisons Gagandeep  in accordance to the promise made by him in this regard during his recent visit to the prison following the June 8 incident.
