Mangalore,April 19, 2013 :  The three-day Sri Ramotsava  organised in connection with Ram Navami celebrations, was inaugurated at the tastefully decorated podium at the Nehru Maidan on April 19, Friday.

The function was held under the joint auspices of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Bhajrangdal, Durgavahini, Matra Mandali and Sri Ramotsava Samithi. LD Ballal hoisted the flag to mark the inaugural of the celebrations.  Religious rituals including Sri Rama Pratishtapane, Ganahoma and Go Pooja were also held.


 ‘Bhaktara Dasa Bhagavatha’, a music CD by Shashikala Kadri, poet and former corporator was released by Pushparaj Jain, President of the Ramotsava Samithi .
Jeetendra Kottary, district Dharma Prasarana Pramukh of VHP,  L Sridar Bhat, President of Mangala Seva Trust, Krishnamurthy, zonal secretary of VHP, Jagadish Shenava and  Sharan Pumpwell  were among others were present.


Various religious and cultural programmes will be held as part of the three day festivities. The celebrations will conclude with Ravana Dahana on April 21, Sunday wherein the huge effigy  of demon Ravana will be burnt.


The 25 feet tall effigy of Ravana  has been installed at Nehru Maidan and the replica of Ram Mandir at the Maidan has been attracting crowds.
