Udupi , May 20, 2013 :  A two year old child has been reported missing after a boat with 16 people on board capsized in the sea at Malpe on May 19, Sunday evening.

malpe 1A total of ten people including a family of six from Doddaballapur in Bangalore had      been on a boating in the sea at Malpe on Sunday evening. It is learnt, the boat owner Narayana took the 16 people in his boat which at the most could carry 12 people. Moreover, the boating was done in violation of the district administration rule banning boating activities from May 15 to September 15 in view of the fast approaching monsoons.


It is said, all the 16 fell into the water but were rescued  by locals as well as fishermen from Tamil Nadu who plunged into action. However, Hitesh, son of Prasanna Gowda could not be traced and is reportedly drowned.


Search for the missing child is on. A case has been registered against the boat owner for violation of rules.

Must take a strict action against the boat owner.The Government should appoint more safe guards in these kinds of tourist places and make sure the tourist’s are safe.
