MLA JR Lobo inspects dredging, fisheries yard works at old Mangalore port

Mangalore, May 23, 2013: The newly elected MLA of Mangalore South Constituency J R Lobo visited Bunder Harbour to inspect the dredging work and third phase of fishing yard works on May 23, Thursday.

Lobo also discussed the problem in Bunder port with fishermen leaders and infrastructural contractors.

 

 

 

 

The contractor said that the works on the retaining wall of 750 meter is going on at Bunder and  that the dredging works will commence as soon as the retention wall construction is complete.

 Speaking to the media, Lobo said that the third phase of 63,000 meter fishing yard at Bunder and 30,000 meter  fishing yard at Bengre  are progressing since the past two years. He said the projects are estimated to cost Rs 56.7 crore.

Though the works are progressing smoothly, there are complaints from residents of Bolar, Hoige Bazar and other places that they have been facing problems due to the project, the MLA said adding efforts would be made to solve the problem.
