Udupi, Dec 6, 2015: BJP announced its candidates for 12 out of 25 local bodies’ constituencies for the election to the Legislative Council in the State. The BJP has fielded Kota Srinivas Poojary from Dakshina Kannada local bodies’ constituency, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Briefing media on Dec5, it was revealed that Poojary will file nominations on December 7. The constituency has 6,513 voters, of which, more than 3,500 voters are in favour of the BJP. Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will tour undivided Dakshina Kannada on December 20 as a part of the campaign.
Srinivas Poojary had been demanding increase in honorarium for the gram panchayat (GP) members and increase in allocation of funds to the GPs for taking up development works.
The BJP has made initial preparations for the election and expressed confidence that Srinivas Poojary will win the election. Unlike Congress, the BJP do not have rebel candidate in the constituency.
