Konkani Natak Sabha to hold Golden Singing Contest

Mangalore, May 16, 2013: Konkani Natak Sabha has arranged the ‘Golden Singing Competition’ to mark the 50th year of the inter-parish singing competition initiated by it way back in 1965 and which has produced several talented singers including Melwyn Peres, Meena Rebimbus, Mic Max, Lancy Moras and others.

The grand finale of the golden singing contest will be held at Don Bosco Hall on September 15,2013. Prior to this there will be two levels of competition-one at the zonal levels in churches coming under Mangalore Diocese. This will be followed by the semi-finals and finals.

This was informed to reporters here by Sunil Menezes, General Secretary of the Sabha.

He said the Sabha established in 1943 has been contributing in its own way to promote Konkani drama, art, literature, culture and music.

The semi finals of the singing contest in children’s category will be on August 4 while that of the seniors category on August 11.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza, President of Konkani Nataka Sabha, Dolphy Saldanha, Vice President, Prem Lobo, Treasurer, were also present.
