Kasargod: Undertrial who gave cops a slip re-arrested

Kasargod, May 30, 2013: A notorious thief who had given the cops a slip while being taken to the prison from the court in Kasargod on May 27, has been arrested at Kuttikol on May 29 by a police team led by Kasargod Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar.

The accused is PA Abdul Lathif alias Charal Lathif (40) from Chattanchal. He who was lodged in Kannur Central jail was brought to Kasargod court in connection with a case on Monday. While returning to the prison, he gave the cops a slip near Vidyanagar bus stand. A chase by the cops however proved futile.

It is learnt, he spent the night in a forest at Cherkala and then left to Kanattur in the morning where he bought a pair of slippers and returned to the forest. When police began a search in the forest, he escaped to Kuttikol where he was eventually arrested.

He has been produced before the court and sent to Kannur prison.
