Manipal, Aug 28, 2014: According to a special report, the first ever Global Alumni Meet of the prestigious medical college - Kasturba Medical College and other institutions of the Manipal University took place at Kaula Lumpur Malaysia, from 7 th to 10 th August 2014 with associated workshops on 5 th, 6 th and 10 th as well.
An exclusive effort by the Malaysian team of Manipal Alumni (old students) of all streams. About 1000 alumni actively participated in the colorful event which was held at the Hotel Royale Chulan, a centrally located hotel at KL.
About 100 invited speakers addressed the learned audience on various issues. Dr Ragahvendra (RV) Bhat of KMC Mangalore, delivered an address on the "History of the Evolution of the Medical Education - Are we on the right track?" It made an impact and was received.
It was a good learning and teaching experience. 16 officials of the Manipal University attended the deliberations. The presence and active involvement of group President Dr. Ramdas M Pai added color and glory to the event.
The inauguration took place on the 7 th August by and Dr Ramdas M Pai and Dr the Health Minister of Malaysia. Also on the dais was Dr Nirmal Singh the President of the MAAM.
The Health minister emphasized the fact that the ratio of doctor to people in Malaysia was 1 : 400 better than many developed countries. Dr. Sabaratnam Arulkumaran President FIGO spoke on various current situations in healthcare.
There was also opportunity for many cultural interactions, and the Gala Dinner on the 9 th August which was well organised and tastefully executed. The meet was a highly Valuable one in terms of enhancing knowledge and establishing contacts to exchange professional views academically and culturally.
