Jayaprakash Hegde assures to put in more efforts for development of Udupi

Udupi, Mar 19, 2014 :  Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde who is  also the Congress candidate from the constituency for the upcoming LS polls, has said that  he  has strived his level best for the development of the constituency during his short term as MP and assured to  strive to perform still better if re-elected.

Speaking to reporters here on March 18, Tuesday, Hegde elaborated on various developmental works initiated during his tenure as MP. He said nearly Rs 10 crore has been granted for various projects and of these works worth Rs 2.5 crore are  pending completion.

 He also spoke on the various schemes initiated by the UPA government and touched upon the RTI Act and compulsory education for children in the age group of 6 to 14.

On the proposal to expand roads from Udupi to Manipal, the MP allayed fears in the minds of the public and said some changes would be made in the future keeping in mind the growing vehicular traffic.

To a question on the areca ban proposal, the MP said it is not possible as   there are no clear cut evidences that may help in banning arecanut.

The MP also promised to ensure 100 per cent utilisation of MP fund.

Congress leaders Krishnamurthy, Gopal Poojari, Ramesh Kanchan and  Rajesh Shetty Birthi were also present.
