Even the newly laid Maani-Mysore State Highway has developed cracks at Peraje near Sullia. Incidentally, the road had collapsed at this very spot last year. The road here is adjacent to  Payaswini river. The main reason for the problem is the failure of the authorities to raise retention wall.

The road  has developed a crack upto 60 meters and the problem is expected to be grave this monsoon.

At a place called Adkar, the retention wall  has  collapsed  over a house of Abdurrehman of Jayanagar and  has also damaged a vehicle parked nearby.

At Gantalkatte on the Guruvayanakere State Highway, a huge banyan tree  and another tree rolled on the highway damaging severe electric poles. Luckily, no one was hurt. The tree branches were later cleared by the TMC personnel, Forest Department and MESCOM staff.

Supriya D Shetty, TMC President visited the spot.
