Greedy politicians have given democratic values a go by, regrets Justice Santosh Hegde

Mangalore, Jan 12, 2014: Greediness of politicians has given democratic values a go by. The  younger generation has a greater responsibility of protecting these values, said former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda at the Ramakrishna Mutt in Mangalore on January 11, Saturday. Continuing, Justice  Hegde said there was  no  scope for serious debate in the parliament and assemblies these days. Most of the sessions end in pandemonium and walk-outs, he  said and stressed the need to  boycott politicians who come to power through foul means.

 

 

Justice Hegde said the various scams that rocked the various government including the Bofors scam, Commonwealth scam, 2G scam and the coal scam are an indicator of the deep-rooted corruption in the system.

Swami Jithakamanandaji, Head of the Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangalore, who also spoke, said Swami Vivekananda was a towering personality who spread the culture of the nation across the globe.

Prof. K Raghottam Rao, Director of Human Networking Academy, Bangalore, was also present.
