Gold worth Rs 5 lakh stolen from house in Gangolli

Kundapur, June 22, 2013 : Gold worth nearly Rs 5 lakhs was stolen from a house  at Gangolli on June 20, Thursday night.  The house located close by the Gangolli fish market  belonged to one Naqeeb who worked in  Dubai.

 It is learnt, the thieves entered  the house by burning a portion of the rear door and then opening the bolt. The thieves had ransacked the entire house for valuables and finally laid hands on nearly 24 sovereigns of gold and a cash of around Rs 2500 which was in the house.

The theft occurred even as four members of Naqeeb’s family were fast asleep. However, his wife was away at her parental home that day.

The thieves, it is learnt have also stolen two cell phones which one of the members of the family had  kept near him while sleeping.

Gangolli police officials have visited the spot. Finger print experts and a dog squad has also been pressed into service
