Mangalore, March 10, 2011: On 7th March 2011, over 250 heads of Catholic Senior/Junior Colleges, High Schools and Primary Schools under the leadership of  the (Catholic Board of Education) CBE President and Bishop of Mangalore Rt.Rev.Aloysius Paul D’Souza; marked  40 years of  Priesthood of  Fr.Wilson Vitus D’souza, Secretary CBE at Shanthi Kiran Bajjodi. Fr.Wilson had reached this milestone in his life of service to the People of Dakshina Kannada on  25th December 2010.

The key note address was delivered by Dr.Clarence Miranda, who extolled the qualities of Fr.Wilson D’Souza and his 40 years of service to humanity and his greatness. Perhaps the great words "You get the best when you give the best" sums up the direction of Fr.Wilson in all his services in the Church of Mangalore.

A tribute was presented to the celebrant  Rev.Fr.Wilson D’Souza, with pomp and affection. W D’Souza representing the Primary Schools; Bridget Periera the HighSchools;  Fr.Alwayn Serrao, the Colleges and Greta Lobo the office of CBE - walked the length of the hall bearing a huge floral tribute, embedded  with the figure ’40’ in a special pattern with roses and lead by Bishop of Mangalore Rt Rev.Aloysius P D’Souza.

Fr Wilson paid tribute to the many who were his role models and those who particularly supported the good works of the Catholic Board of Education during his tenure as it’s Secretary. He added that this great responsibility to better and spread education in the spirit of the Church was made possible only with the help of God and several good people who guided and helped him achieve results.

The function was graced  by noted lawyer M P Noronha and well known Social Worker Prof. Rita Noronha who were on the dais.  The whole function was tastefully conducted by Aloysius D’Souza, Headmaster of Rosario High school in the city. The fitting celebration marked the esteem and dignity that the CBE is held in the region. 

Brief Overview of Fr.Wilson Vitus D’Souza’s Career:
 
Born in Bendur Mangalore on 15 June 1945, he started Schooling in Bendur and finished it at Kirem, in 1962 he joined St.Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu. Ordained 1970 at Kinnigoli and served in various capacities. He obtained MA (Political Science) MA (Sociology) MA (Public Admin). In 1998 he completed advanced studies in Education from St.Thomas Aquinas College New York (US of A).He has dedicated his life to the Church and Education in the Diocese of Mnagalore; served in parishes and chiefly various educational institutions a Vice Principal and Principal for over 26 years. He has held offices and membership in various educational Associations and Bodies as well as Academic Council of Mangalore University.He is also a member coordinator, National Accreditation (NAAC). It is a wish that his current services as Secretary of CBE will not only enhance the stature of Diocesan educational institutions, but it will be a testimony to the hard work and foresight of Rev.Fr.Wilson.
