Dreaded gangster Yusubu reportedly arrested in Riyadh

Mangalore, August 2: Immigration officials have reportedly arrested Maduru Yusubu, who stands accused of several criminal activities, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to reliable sources, Yusubu was trapped when he was about to board a flight to Dubai at the Riyadh King Khaled International Airport on Saturday. The gangster is from Madur, a tiny village in Kotekar, Mangalore.

Dropping hints about the arrest of the fugitive, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the report might be true, but that he cannot confirm the report because of lack of proper confirmation in writing. IGP Gopal B. Hosur said that the police department has received no information regarding the arrest.

Yusubu has around 18 cases against him; he has also been booked for the murder of Sukhananda Shetty and attempted murder of Chandrashekar Uchil as well as for robbing Rajadhani Jewellers and threatening the proprietor of Baliga Jewellers, Bantwal. He stands accused of collecting hafta from several businessmen in Mangalore, before going underground in Riyadh in a bid to escape arrest.

Enraged at Yasubu’s anti-national activities, underworld don Ravi Poojary had openly threatened him through the media. Recently, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had signed an extradition treaty with Saudi Arabia.

Rumours were flying about that Yasubu had been arrested in Chennai till the police dismissed the rumours as untrue. Police sources also said that the gangster was posting wrong news about himself in a bid to gain publicity.
