Dr. Veerendra Heggade lays foundation stone for new hospital in Ujire




Belthangady, Jul 2: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade laid the foundation stone for a new hospital, which will be constructed by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Medical Trust, on July 1, Thursday.

In his inaugural speech, he said that the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKRDRDP) paid a total of Rs. 1.1 crore in insurance premiums under the Suraksha Scheme and distributed Rs. 2.2 crore in insurance claims to its beneficiaries. He added that the SKDRDP has paid a total of Rs. 74.68 crore in insurance claims during the past six years.

He said that the hospital to be constructed will have 100 beds and will be equipped with facilities such as laboratory, pediatric units, maternity units, and emergency care in addition to a general ward, semi special and special wards, and nine special rooms. The hospital is to occupy a total area of 90,000sq.ft. Dormitories will also be constructed for the family members of patients, Dr. Heggade informed. He also said that the trust is trying to collaborate with the Narayana Hridayalaya in Bangalore to perform heart surgeries at the new hospital.

Stressing the need to take precautions against diseases, Dr. Heggade said that Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala has contributed Rs. 6 crore to Kidwai Hospital and contributes an annual sum of Rs 15 lakh for the treatment of poor patients at Jayadev Hospital. He also donated a vehicle to take the mortal remains of the deceased to the crematorium.

Hemavathi V. Heggade, the wife of Dr. Heggade, spoke about the necessity of hospital care when a person’s health deteriorates. Managing Trustee of Shri Janardhan Temple in Ujire Vijayaraghav Padvennaya said that the human body deserves care because it is sacred. Manjula Umesh, the president of Ujire Gram Panchayath, and Prof S. Prabhakar, the vice president of SDM Education Trust, were also present.

D. Harshendra Kumar, the secretary of SDM Education Trust, made the welcome speech. Shishupal Poovani proposed the vote of thanks. Prof Na Ujire, the journalist, was the master of ceremonies.
