Mangalore, Mar 10, 2014 : District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak has blamed the Congress for the recent Kalladka clashes.
Speaking to reporters at the party office on March 9, Sunday, he also charged the Congress of violating the election code of conduct during its convention at Kalladka on March 8, Saturday during which clashes broke out between Congress men and Sangh Parivar workers.
He also accused the Congress of disrupting peace by organising the convention and said the speech of Chandraprakash Shetty of the Congress at the convention had led to the clashes.
He said “trying to tarnish the image of anyone through such comments is tantamount to violation of model code of conduct.”
Nayak claimed that the BJP was in possession of the video clipping of the speech of Shetty and accused the Congress of holding the convention merely to target Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat.
He also accused the police of failing to bring the situation under control on time and charged the Congress of pursuing hate politics. Nayak further said the BJP would soon approach the Election Commission with evidences to prove that code of conduct has been violated by the Congress.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLCs Monappa Bhandary, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Rukmaya Poojari were also present at the press meet.
