Mangalore, May 13, 2014 : Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has informed that the administration is all set for the counting of votes polled for the Lok Sabha elections held on April 17. He said the counting will be at the Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Memorial PU College at Bondel in the city on May 16.
Speaking to reporters on May 12, Monday after overseeing the arrangements for the counting process at the Centre, the Deputy commissioner said in total there will be 16 counting halls. Two counting halls will be allocated for each assembly segment, he said adding in total there will be a total of 112 tables with 14 tables for each assembly segment. There will be two counting staff and a micro observer in one table.
The DC said the strong rooms where the EVMs have been placed will be opened at 7 a,m and added the EVMs will be sent to the counting tables at 7.55 am, he said adding counting of votes polled including the postal ballots will begin at 8 am.
The postal ballots will be counted in three separate chambers, the DC said adding that the postal ballots will be counted manually,
The DC further informed that the administration will be conducting an orientation camp for the agents of the candidates at Town Hall on May 14 at 11 am.
He said mobile phones, laptops and ipads are banned inside the counting centre and that only pen, pencil and papers are allowed inside.
