Depressed over break-up of daughter’s marital alliance, ASI ends life

Udupi, April 1, 2014 : A 59 year old Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police  in Amasebail,who was reportedly dejected after a marriage alliance for his daughter  broke in the last minute,  has ended his life by hanging himself on March 31, Monday.

The body of ASI Ramesh Shetty  who resided in the Doddanagudde Police quarters was found in the bathroom of his house on Monday evening. He  hanged from the roof using a cloth.

His mother who grew suspicious on his not coming out of the bathroom for a long time,  checked only to find him hanging.

Though he was immediately taken to the AV Baliga Memorial Hospital at Doddanagudde and then to KMC, Manipal his life could not  be saved.

It is being said that the  ASI was depressed over the break-up of the marriage alliance of his daughter. He has also left behind his wife and a son. A case has been registered in Udupi town police station.

Udupi SP Boralingaiah also visited the hospital mortuary.

The  last rites of Ramesh Shetty were performed at Chandu Maidan  in the presence of relatives and senior police officials including Prabhudev Maane, Udupi DySP,  Santosh Kumar Maane, Additional SP and others.
