Mangaluru, April 6, 2024: Residents along the coastal district are feeling the brunt of escalating temperatures, exacerbated by the relentless heatwave. Dakshina Kannada reported a peak temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Udupi at 39.2 degrees Celsius.
According to data from the IMD, current temperatures in the coastal region are running 1 to 2 degrees Celsius above the norm. The usual range hovers between 35 to 36 degrees Celsius, with forecasts suggesting a further uptick in the days ahead.
Anticipated relief comes in the form of sporadic rainfall expected to grace the area after April 10.

Stay hydrated by drinking water regularly and indulge in water-rich fruits such as watermelon, cucumber, and pineapple.
Shield yourself with caps when venturing outdoors.
Opt for loose, light-colored cotton clothing to alleviate discomfort during summer.
Refrain from walking barefoot under the scorching sun; wear appropriate footwear.
Prioritize children’s well-being by ensuring they consume 2-3 liters of water daily to stave off dehydration.
Seek medical attention if symptoms such as fever, cold, headache, or fatigue manifest.
