DYFI to protest before District in-charge Minister’s house

Mangalore, June 20, 2014: DYFI State President Munir Katipalla speaking to media said that on the day a rally would be held from Kalpane to Rai’s house followed by a protest.  Demanding a re-investigation of Bajarang Dal activist Rajesh Poojary murder case by CID and releasing of the three innocents arrested in the case, DYFI will protest in front of District-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai’s house at Kallige near Bantwal on June 23 at 10 am.

He emphasised that the three arrested in the case, Irshad (21), Hussain (20) and Imran (20) were innocents. The police have held the trio acting under pressure from Sangh Parivar organisations. Among the arrested, one was making his living by selling products door-to-door and another was working in a stone quarry. The third had just returned from UAE to his hometown, following illness. They were not involved in communal issues nor did they know Rajesh Poojary, Munir said.

The DYFI leader pointed to the several loopholes in the case. Though police say previous grudge led to the murder, they do not state about the reason for grudge. Also, the bike used by the culprits to kill Poojary, as police claims was not seized so far. The investigation was made on flimsy reasoning overlooking pertinent details like mobile call records.

"Booking innocent youth for murder and allowing real culprits to go scot free is a dangerous precedent which will affect communal harmony of the region. We want to ensure the arrest of real culprits" Katipalla said. He flayed the silence maintained by District-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and MLA Mohiuddin Bava over the issue though DYFI had organised several protests on the same.
