DVS raps Congress government for plans to shelve BJP govt’s schemes

 Mangalore, May 24, 2013:  Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has come down heavily on the Congress government in the state for what he termed as resorting to ‘politics of hatred.’

Speaking to reporters at the district BJP office on May 24, Friday, Gowda said it was highly unwelcome on the part of the government to plan to shelve several of the schemes implemented by the previous BJP government. Pointing out to the government plans to revoke the decision of the BJP government with regard to constitution of new taluks, Gowda said  this was not in the best interests of the state and recalled that new taluks were constituted taking into view  the  longstanding demands of the people of the respective areas after duly seeking expert advice.

 

Taking exception to the ‘paucity of funds’ cited by the government for the  constitution of new taluks, Gowda questioned how can there be shortage of funds when the government had announced projects worth Rs 4000 crores on the day CM Siddaramaiah took charge.

Gowda also expressed his strong opposition to the government plans to bring  the administration of the Sri Krishna Mutt of Udupi   under government control as also the government’s plans to  drop the proposed anti-cow slaughter bill envisaged by the BJP government.

On the cheap liquor issue, Gowda suspected if there was a secret understanding between the government and liquor lords over the issue.

He also requested the state government to solve the water problems of the people of the state on a priority basis instead of giving attention to other issues.
