Mangaluru, May 11,2017 : Members of the DK District unit of the Karnataka Dalita Sangharsha Samithi staged a protest in front of the DC office here on May 11, Thursday demanding the arrest of all those who had allegedly committed atrocities on members of Koraga community at Movadi in Kundapur taluk on the night of April 24. They demanded strict legal action against the accused and also steps to ensure that the attackers did not get bail.
The protestors have further urged the government to provide suitable compensation as well as protection to the affected members of the Koraga community.
Speakers at the meeting pointed out how a group persons said to be activists of Bajarangadal barged into a house at Movadi in Hosadu village of Kundapur where an engagement ceremony was underway and committed atrcities on women. They had reportedly even abused and offended three members of Koraga community who tried to prevent them.
It has also been alleged that the accused had threatened to set the houses of eight families on fire if a police complaint was lodged.
DSS District Committee Convenor Lakshman Vamanjoor, office bearers Anand Pangal, R C Amin, Shekhar Chilimbi and others were part of the protest.
