DK-DC promises hut free colony and pipelines without disturbing farmers

Ujire, July 10,2014: Deputy Commissioner of DK, A B Ibrahim said that Kolody colony in Neriya gram panchayat will be developed to be a hut free village. The basic facilities like school, road, electricity will be provided to the colony. The district administration will make an effort towards the wholesome development of the village the DC said  speaking after receiving petitions from the colony residents on July 9.

The residents said that there are 71 houses belonging to Malekudiya community in the colony, of which 21 houses have received title deeds. The remaining 50 houses should be provided with title deeds without delay.

The DC directed the revenue officials to submit within two weeks a proposal to the ITDP to construct houses.. Fifteen houses in the colony are constructed using bamboo. The officials who swung into action conducted survey for 18 houses and submitted a report to the DC.  The DC said that two acre private land will be taken for the construction of road to the colony. An anganwadi centre will be sanctioned to the colony.

Any errors in the ration cards will be set right. The work on supplying electricity under Rajeev Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme will be taken up within 15 days, the DC promised.

Further to this, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, SP Dr Sharanappa, DySP Rashmi Paraddi along with HPCL officials visited Neriya and received petitions from the public on laying of gas pipeline and a pump house. Speaking after accepting the petition, the DC said that gas pipeline project is a time bound project and has to be completed by January 2015. There is a need to take a decision by discussing the pros and cons of the project.

The pipeline will be laid by protecting the interest of the farmers and also paying maximum compensation for the farmers who lose land.  The project is transparent and details will be published in the Belthangady taluk office and Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The DC inspected 22.55 acre land in Kuvetthilna, pumphouse at Pijakkala and 23 acre Gomala land. He said that the pipeline will pass through pumphouse in Pijakkala. Only 80 cents of the paddy field will be lost for the road. Hence, farmers will not be affected. The final decision will be announced after discussing all the aspects of the project, he added.

Check on sand : The DC said that transportation of sand outside the district has been banned. As there is huge demand for sand for the construction of buildings and other works in the district, the ban has been imposed. HPCL Assistant Chief Manager Ravichandran, social welfare officer Santhosh, KIADB Assistant Commissioner Ashok among others were present. The high hopes of the common people must not be neglected.
