Creators and Empathizers will Rule the World in the Future: Dr. Habeeb Rehman

Mangalore, June 14, 2014: Creators and empathizers will rule the world in the future, hence the role of medical professionals will be paramount, said Dr. C. P. Habeeb Rehman, Chairman, Unity Hospital, Mangalore. He was addressing the delegates after inaugurating Dr. M. Sudhakar Shetty Memorial 32nd Mangalore Orthopedic Course organized by Canara Orthopedic Association in the city this morning.

 

Explaining the professional genesis of man, Dr. Rehman said, Man was first a hunter-gatherer, then an agriculturist, and finally an industrial worker. The last century heralded the era of the Knowledge Worker and it is predicted that the future will be dominated by Creators and Empathizers, he said. Creators like artists, writers and scientists as also Empathizers like Teachers and Doctors will become the highly valued professions in society and medical profession should prepare itself for this development.

Dr. M. Sudhakar Shetty Memorial 32nd Mangalore Orthopedic Course is being held on 14th & 15th June 2014 at IMA House, Attavar, Mangalore. Mangalore Orthopedic Course was instituted by the eminent orthopedic surgeon, the late Dr. M. Sudhakar Shetty, along with Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty and Dr. P. K Usman in 1983. Following the demise of Dr. M. Sudhakar Shetty, it has been continued by Canara Orthopedic Association since last three years.

This year about 200 delegates have registered for the course and many famous faculties from different parts of India and abroad are imparting training, which includes ward visits.

In her address, the guest of honour Dr. Rajeshwari Devi H.R, District Medical Officer, Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore observed that Wenlock Hospital was one of the oldest hospitals in the country. She enumerated the upcoming developments in the hospital’s infrastructure, such as the setting up of a superspeciality centre under National Health Mission and establishing a trauma care centre.

Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte University; senior orthopedician Dr. P.K. Usman, Dr. Rajeev Naik, President, Indian Orthopedic Association, Dr. N. Nithyananda Rao, President, Karnataka Orthopedic Association, Dr. K. Ganshyam Kamath, Treasurer, Canara Orthopedic Association and Mrs. Amritha Sudhakar Shetty, wife of late Dr. M. Sudhakar Shetty were present on the occasion.

Dr. P.S Kambli, President of Canara Orthopedic Association welcomed the gathering and Dr. K.R. Kamath expressed gratitude. Dr. Siddharth Shetty compeered the programme.
