Cops crack mystery behind murder of woman at Meenakaliya ; arrest duo

Mangaluru, Jan 20, 2015 :   The police who have been investigating into the case of murder of a woman of Madhya Pradesh origin at her house at Meenakaliya in Panambur, have been successful in apprehending two accused at the Suratkal Railway Station on January 19, Monday.

DCP (Crime) Vishnuvardhan who spoke to reporters here on January 20, Tuesday informed that  the arrested are Ajju alias Ajju Pradhan (23) and Vrindavan Pradhan (38) from Ganjam in Odisha. Both are residents of Meenakaliya.


The woman named Kalpana (25) was found murdered in the bathroom of her house  when her husband Rajesh and another relative had gone for night duty on January 12. The DCP said the duo who had barged into the house of Kalpana had at first tried to outrage her modesty and later killed her using a sickle iron pipes and stones when she resisted their advances towards her.

The police who were investigating the case came to know that two labourers from Odisha who were residing in a room for workers from outside states were missing and accordingly a search was launched and the duo arrested at the Suratkal Railway station.

DCP Vishnuvardhan informed that all building contractors have now been directed to furnish details regarding the migrant labourers whom they employ.
