Clerk suspended for failure to distribute income and caste certificates

Mangalore, Aug 26, 2011 :DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda suspended a second division clerk working in Bantwal Taluk office for non performance of duty.

The DC paid a surprise visit to the office and found that Gretta, the clerk who has been suspended, has failed to distribute over 700 income and caste certificates to applicants in the taluk’s three hoblis. According to an official press release, the DC directed the taluk officials to deliver the certificates in person to the applicants as early as possible.

The DC also directed the tahsildar to withhold salaries of two case workers who had failed to disburse the amount sanctioned by the state government for 286 kin of BPL families to perform funeral rites of their dead members. Called the Anthyodaya scheme, the beneficiaries were to have received Rs. 1000 to perform the last rites of those who died in their family.

The DC also reviewed a number of pending files and warned officials not to unnecessarily delay files and harass beneficiaries under various schemes.
