CCoP, City Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar said people can either upload videos and photographs of traffic violators to the mobile number of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K. Tilakchandra. The images and videos will be forwarded to the jurisdictional traffic personnel, who will rush to the spot and book cases.

The Dakshina Kannada police had started “Namma Traffic” — a similar initiative— a week ago that led the district police book cases against illegal parking and non-display of registration plates by vehicles in Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady and Bantwal.

CCoP . Shekar shared details of the initiative during the phone-in programme on Oct 14, Friday when a caller from Kottara Chowki expressed the need for the police to come out with new ways to check traffic violations. The caller asked CCoP Sekhar to deploy policemen in plain clothes to book cases against offenders. He said several college students were seen riding triples on motorcycles on M.G. Road, Jail Road and Besant College Road. While ruling out the possibility of deploying policemen in plain clothes for traffic enforcement, CCoP Sekhar spoke about the Kudla Traffic initiative that will help police strictly enforce traffic rules.  Sekhar once again mentioned about Kudla Traffic when another caller complained about the absence of registration number boards on the rear side of lorries carrying sand.
