Mangalore, April 30, 2014 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has informed that ten new health centres will be set up in various parts of the city as part of the National Urban Health Mission. He said under the programme, the government has released RS 2.60 crores for the city to set up health centres in Kulai, Shaktinagar, Bunder, Padil, Kunjatbail, Kadri and Jeppinamogaru.
Each of the Centre will come up at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs. Meanwhile, the health centres at Jeppu, Bengre and Suratkal will be upgraded by spending Rs 10 lakhs each. Khader further said Rs 1.25 crores has been sanctioned to Ullal under the NUHM and added the primary health centre in Ullal will be replaced by a 30 bed multi-speciality hospital.
The Minister also informed that ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) will also be appointed in urban areas and added 122 ASHA members will be appointed for a monthly pay of Rs 2000 and Rs 200 travel allowance.
