Mangalore, May 18, 2014: Tilaka (52) hailing from Subramanya and Ramappa (50), from Madikeri, as per information were found dead in the Konaje Campus staff quarters of Mangalore University.

It is suspected this is a case of Murder followed by suicide. The matter came to light today but could have taken place two or three days ago. The quarters in which the bodies were discovered was allotted to Ms.Tilaka - both the deceased were employed as ’attenders’ in the Mangalore University. Police commissioner, DCP, ACP and other officials visited the spot and conducted investigations.

The general suspicion is that Ramappa may have killed Tilaka  and then committed suicide, as his body was found hanging. A knife was found and Tilaka’s body and the floor had blood splattered all over.

 Tilaka had separated from her first husband Praveen and had filed for divorce. Ramappa  was said to be a married man with children. Tilaka and Ramappa it is said were having an affair and he used to visit her often and stay in the quarters, it was said.

This morning, Vasanth, who stays in the nearby quarters too, found a foul smell emanating from the quarters and on checking, found the couple’s bodies.
