Bhatkal, May 19, 2014: In a shocking incident reported from the town of Bhatkal, a woman stabbed her daughter-in-law to death using a scissor on May 19, Monday.
The deceased woman is Nagaratna Acharya (30), while the accused is Chandravathi (50). It is learnt, a clash between the mother-in-law, daughter-in-law duo culminated in the murder. It is said the accused Chandravathi used to harass her daughter-in-law stating it is not enough if she merely keeps herself occupied in her tailoring profession but should also do household chores.
It is learnt Chandravathi who had a mental ailment was pressurising her daughter in-law often despite the young woman balancing between her tailoring profession at home and household chores.
However, on Monday afternoon she once again picked up a quarrel with the daughter-in-law who was stitching and then stabbed her stomach with the scissor.
Though neighbours rushed Nagaratna to a hospital, she had breathed her last by then. The woman’s husband Manjunath Acharya is a carpenter in Sirsi and visited home once a month. The deceased woman is survived by a son and daughter.
Byndoor police have registered a case.
