Mangalore, May 17, 2013: B Manjunath Mandya, Karnataka South Zone Convenor of Bhajrangdal has  urged the government to  ensure necessary steps to protect cattle and also to close down all unauthorized slaughter houses in the state.

Speaking to reporters here on May 17, Thursday, he said the government decision to revoke the  Anti-Cow Slaughter Act enforced by the erstwhile BJP government has hurt the  majority Hindus. The government has also withdrawn the donations made to the Mutts, he said adding this was nothing but a move to appease minorities.

He urged the government to shun its ‘anti-Hindu’ policies and implement a total ban on cow slaughter in the state. He also warned that the Bhajrangdal would launch a movement of locking up all illegal slaughter houses if the government failed to act.

To a query from scribes on the fate of aged cattle, he said the Hindu organizations have opened several goshalas and the aged cattle would be shifted there if the Bhajrangdal activists are informed.

 Sharan Pumpwell, Convener of Mangalore Division of the Bhajrangdal  who also spoke, while referring to the statement of Mangalore South MLA that moral policing will be dealt with a stern hand, said the Bhajrangdal  was  acting  within the legal framework and added the Bhajrangdal would resort to protest against any attempt to trouble the organization  on the pretext of curbing moral policing.

VHP leader Jagadish Shenava, Bhujanga Kulal of Bhajrangdal and Pradeep Pumpwell,District Goraksha Pramukh were present.
