Beltangady: Five accused arrested in Diesel theft case

Beltangady, Apr 5, 2024: The Dharmasthala police have apprehended five individuals in connection with the theft of diesel valued at Rs. 9 lakh from a petroleum company’s pipeline in Aladka, Puduvettu village of the taluk.

The accused  are identified as Dinesh Gowda (40) and Mohan (28), residents of Puduvettu village; Jaya Suvarna (39), residing in Nelyadi, Kaukradi village, Kadaba; Dinesh (40), a resident of Harehalli, Belur taluk, Hassan and Kartik (28), living in Kadaba village.

On April 1, the police detained the accused in Nelyadi. They were subsequently brought before the court and remanded to four days of police custody. Later, on April 4, they appeared in the Beltangady court again and were further remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.

During the operation, the police confiscated a Maruti 800 car used in the theft, along with 100 liters of diesel, pipes, a drilling machine, a winding machine, and mobile phones from the suspects.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of CI Vasant Achar from the Beltangady police station, SI Anil Kumar from the Dharmasthala police station, along with Samarth R Ganigera and other personnel.
