Attempt to kidnap young children : Cops arrest 3 persons

Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2021:     City police have arrested three persons on the charges of  attempting to kidnap young boys near the Konchady  Temple three days ago.

 

 

 

Those arrested are Rakshak Shetty (22) and Rahul Sinha (21)  of Kavoor and  Alyster Tauro (21) of Bondel.

 This was informed to reporters here on January 16,  Saturday by City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar. It may be recalled here that the incident had occurred on January 13  at around  7 pm  when four boys were on way home  after visiting Konchady Temple. The three accused who were waiting on the road side had tried to cover one of the boys with a gunny bag. When the boy succeeded in escaping, the accused resorted to a similar act on another boy. Immediately the third boy hurled stones at the accused who fled the scene. A complaint was lodged in Kankanady station.

The accused have told the police that they were Youtubers and were only doing a prank. However they have not given clear-cut answers. They have been produced before the court and remanded to three days of police custody.

All the three have a criminal background and police have  also  found that they have links to a drugs network, the Commissioner said. If Rakshak has several cases against him in  Mangaluru East station, Alyster has a case under NDPS Act in Kavoor station, even Rahul has a case against him in Kavoor station.

The Commissioner said resorting to pranks and troubling  people    is also an offence and warned of action against those resorting to such acts.
