Working Journalists’ Union President Jagannath Shetty Bala strongly condemned the attack on the journalist. This is however not the first instance wherein  a journalist is attacked, he said adding  it was shameful to note that the police who are supposed to protect the people have in this instance attacked a journalist. He also demanded strict action against those responsible for the attack.

Journalist Irshad Uppinangady said that in recent days journalists are being targeted. He said he finds no reason behind the attack on Sharan in Bengaluru as he was just covering the news of a protest near Christ College.

Meanwhile, the  Journalists’  Union also condemned the attack on Praja TV cameraman by police personnel while covering the news of Nagavara Protest on April 20.

Later, the journalists submitted a  memorandum to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner,  demanding  suspension of the erring policemen.
