Actress Bhavya bats for Poojary, says Mangaloreans will choose Congress this time

Mangalore, April 5, 2014: Congress candidate Janardhan Poojary’s election campaign got a touch of glamour today as film star Bhavya descended on the city to seek votes for the veteran leader.

Beginning her campaign on an auspicious note by offering pooja at Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Pandeshwar this evening, she along with some Congress workers including Mahila Congress volunteers and former Mayor Shashidhar Hegde then went on a door to door campaign in the locality. Dressed in an attractive pink and blue saree, she managed to draw quite a lot of smiles from the voters who were surprised to have the screen idol visiting them all of a sudden.

 

Bhavya, who joined the Congress just last week, said she chose the party as she was attracted to its pro-women policies and concern for the welfare of the poor. “My father was a staunch Congress supporter and I grew up in a family where support for the Congress was always there. Moreover we were admirers of late Indira Gandhi and Rajiv, who sacrificed their lives for the nation,” she said.

Bhavya also had loads of praise of Poojary, who she described as a senior Congress party worker having over 50 years of political experience. “He was a very successful minister in the central government,” she said, “I am sure he will win in this election and again get the chance to represent the people of Mangalore in the Lok Sabha.”
