Mangalore, April 26: The votes collected at the Taluk Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) polls held on April 24, Sunday were counted at 6:30 a.m. on the morning of April 26, Tuesday and the results were shortly announced.

The Congress, which got 7 out of the 14 seats, is now leading the Mangalore APMC.


The winning candidates are Pramod Kumar (Congress) of Mulky, K. Krishnaraj Hegde (JDS) of Moodbidri, Jayasheela Adyanthaya (Congress) of Vamanjoor, Neelaya M. Agari (Congress) of Yedapadav, Gangadhar Ullal (JDS) of Mangalore, and Prashanth Gatti (BJP) of Kotekar.


Jacinta D’Souza of Rajya Raitha Sangha won in Puttige, which was reserved for women. Ratnakar Poojary of JDS won in Shirtady, which was reserved for the backward category. Monappa Shetty Yekkar won in Bajpe. Giriappa Mera (Congress) won in Beluvai, which was reserved for the scheduled castes.


Chenniappa Nail (Congress) won in Suratkal, which was reserved for the scheduled tribes. Raghava Shetty of BJP won in the Merchants’ Constituency, having beaten Abdul Hameed of the Congress.


D. B. Balakrishna of BJP won the Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Societies Constituency, having defeated Bhaskar Kotian. Radhakrishna Kote of BJP won the Agricultural Cooperative Processing Societies Constituency, having defeated Bhaskar S. Kotian.
